Formed in 1984 by Simon Hii, Wastech Engineering is an irrigation engineering firm specializing in Design, Build, Management and Trading of central computerized irrigation control and fertigation system. Staffed by professional engineers and site supervisors with more than 100 years’ of combined experience, the firm has a reputation for pioneering innovations in the field of landscape irrigation. From its humble beginnings back in 1984, the company untertook its first design and build irrigation project for a fruit plantation with 10 staff and an annual turnover of HK$2million. Till date the company has diversified its business to landscape, golf course and agro chemicals with an annual turnover of HK$60 million and employs a total of 150 staff. The intense and concentrated needs of irrigation for landscaping which include theme parks and golf courses has been a special challenge for the firm as they have worked on a number of theme park and golf course projects. Wastech Engineering customizes each design to minimize cost and maximize plant response. The diversity of the firm is exemplified by its client list, including landscape architects, golf course developers, theme park developers, engineers, planners, building contractors, municipalities, universities, highway authorities and agribusiness managers. Besides our most recent work in Hong Kong Disneyland at Penny’s Bay, work has been performed in many regions of South East Asia including Malaysia, Singapore, Brunei, Indonesia, Pakistan, Taiwan and China. Wastech Engineering is experienced using raw and treated effluent water sources for irrigation, having completed projects with diverse constraints and permitting requirements in the above regions. In addition to the above the firm is also proficient in the design and build of Filtration and Fertigation Systems.

Wastech Engineering also stock, distributes and are agents for a full range of landscape irrigation products from well known manufacturers such as Rainbird (USA) central computerized control irrigation and sprinkler system, Netafim (Australia) drip systems and Grundfos Pumps (Demmark).The company also stock, blend and trade in agrochemicals and are agents for Vickburgs CRF (USA) – Multigreen Controlled Release Fertilizer and Lebanon Turf Products–Country Club Microgreens grade fertilizers.
