Corporate Overview


The KEN HOLDINGS BERHAD Group has grown for the last 30 years from providing specialist engineering services to its customers into a PKK Class A contractor and a reputable, award winning GREEN property developer.


In 1980 the KEN GROUP focused mainly on grouting, underpinning, guniting and structural repair works. Shortly afterwards, the company broadened its base of operations by adding design & installation of micropiles, pipe jacking and other geotechnical services such as rock & soil nailing and anchoring to its portfolio of expertise.


KEN GROUTING SDN BHD was the pioneer of Soil-Nailing system for Slope Protection works in Malaysia and is now one of the most notable and widely used methods of Slope Protection for highways and hill slopes in the country. The GROUP also undertook various major engineering works including the building of bridges, highways and buildings for Jabatan Kerja Raya, Malaysia.


The year 1990 was a major milestone in the KEN GROUP’s history when it became a PKK Class A contractor, thus enabling it to undertake unlimited-sized projects from government and statutory bodies all over Malaysia.


On the home front, the company was aggressively looking into diversification and growth potential. In its first foray into marine works via KEN-CHEC SDN BHD in partnership with CHEC Construction from CHINA (The group undertaking the upgrading of the Penang Bridge). This policy proved to be successful when in 1995 the Company landed a RM 127 million land reclamation project in Westport, which remains Malaysia’s single largest land reclamation project todate.


Subsequently in 1996, the Group’s effort were highlighted in becoming a major player in the Malaysian construction industry when it was awarded a RM 55 million turnkey project in the form of the construction of Teachers’ Training College in Kangar, Perlis sprawled over an area of 89 acres.


In the same year, KEN HOLDINGS achieved another major milestone in being successfully listed on the Second Board of the Kuala Lumpur Stock Exchange’s (now known as BURSA MALAYSIA BERHAD).


Looking for further expansion, the GROUP made inroad into ASEAN with a S$1,512,250 micropiling project in Singapore and upgrading works in excess of US$1 million to a Malaysian-owned hotel in Cambodia.


KEN HOLDINGS BERHAD launched its new corporate logo in 2000 reflecting its vision and long term plans to be at the forefront and cutting edge of the nation’s progress into the new millennium. KEN PROPERTY SDN BHD, the developer of the 3 phases of KEN DAMANSARA CONDOMINIUMS location in the capital’s ever popular residential suburb Petaling Jaya area spearheaded the GROUP’s diversification into the properties and development market.


The GROUP went further to acquire a majority stake in another Company, KHIDMAT TULIN SDN BHD which undertook the development of a housing scheme over 22 acres of land and assisted the Selangor State Government in re-housing 650 squatter families in the Seri Kembangan area under the State’s Vision of “Selangor Squatters Free”.


KHIDMAT TULIN SDN BHD was one of the first developers to carry out in-situ squatter resettlement in the state of Selangor. This carefully planned development was completed in December 2006 with 46 units of Shoplots and has now transformed the old Kampung Aman into a new thriving area, KEN AMAN of Seri Kembangan with the squatter families having proper hygiene, careful infrastructure planning and also essential business locations to boost the local economy.


Not standing still, the GROUP recognized the need for continual improvement as a means of success in an increasingly global and competitive world. KEN GROUTING SDN BHD, the construction and engineering arm of the KEN GROUP proudly achieved the prestigious MS ISO 9002 certificate on 8th December 2000 and upgraded to MS ISO 9001 : 2000 on 8th December 2003. It is the first company in Malaysia to be thus recognized for specialist engineering services for slope stabilization and one of the very few for marine engineering (Dredging) works.


On 21st January 2003, in the mission of always achieving greater heights, KEN HOLDINGS BERHAD was promoted to the Main Board of BURSA MALAYSIA BERHAD.


In year 2009, KEN PROPERTY SDN BHD has set new heights for the GROUP.  KEN PROPERTY has successfully transformed KEN BANGSAR into becoming the Number 1 GREEN rated Building in Malaysia. KEN BANGSAR was awarded the BCA Green Mark GoldPLUS Award in July 2009 by the Building and Construction Authority (BCA) of Singapore, making it the first and highest rated GREEN building in the country. The GoldPLUS rating is also the first and highest awarded outside of Singapore and is a testament to the KEN GROUP’s commitment to the environment and sustainable developments in Malaysia. The BCA Green Mark rating is widely recognized as the most prestigious standard for energy efficient and sustainable developments in the Asia Pacific region. Not satisfied with only 1 GREEN award, KEN BANGSAR went on to win the local GREEN BUILDING INDEX GOLD AWARD. These recognitions bestowed upon KEN BANGSAR have set a new standard for the country’s residential developments of the future and will induce a strong following in time to come.


KEN RIMBA SDN BHD, another subsidiary of KEN HOLDINGS BERHAD is also involved in squatter resettlement in Shah Alam and is currently redeveloping the land into Malaysia’s Frist GREEN Township, known as KEN RIMBA. This development consists of apartment, condominium, terrace house and commercial shoplots. In September 2009, KEN RIMBA achieved another two more BCA GREEN MARK Awards from the Government of Singapore. This showed that we pay attention to every single aspect of our developments and are truly committed in the environment of the country and our nation. Most important is that we aim to show that GREEN does not necessarily have to be confined to luxury properties but can also be incorporated in the design for the more staple housing market.


KEN RIMBA LEGIAN consists of 328 units of 2 storey terrace houses. We are proud that KEN RIMBA LEGIAN was awarded the BCA GREEN MARK GOLD (Provisional) AWARD. This is the first terrace house development in Malaysia to be awarded such recognition and at such a high level.


KEN RIMBA COMMERCIAL CENTRE (KRCC) consists of 91 units of 2 storey shop lot and 18 units 3 storey shop lots. Extensive greenery will be incorporated throughout the development and township bringing true meaning to the name of KEN RIMBA. KEN RIMBA COMMERCIAL CENTRE is the first of its kind to be awarded the BCA GREEN MARK CERTIFIED (Provisional) AWARD.


With these awards added to the belt of the KEN GROUP, we now are FIRST in the 3 categories:

  2. 1st BCA GREEN MARK GOLD (Provisional) Award for Terrace House Development in Malaysia   - KEN RIMBA LEGIAN
  3. 1st BCA GREEN MARK CERTIFIED (Provisional) Award for Shoplots Development in Malaysia   – KEN RIMBA COMMERCIAL CENTRE 


KEN HOLDINGS BERHAD has truly shown exemplary performance in this sector and is now leading the industry in the movement towards GREEN and towards developing a sustainable future for MALAYSIA.


To date, the KEN GROUP has completed over RM 700 Million worth of Engineering and Construction works and has Property Developments (both completed and ongoing) totaling almost RM 1 Billion.
