CIVIL LABORATORY

With an eye on your best interest, Civil Laboratory supports diversified private and public sector customer base with differing needs and demands. Our laboratory emphasis on SPEED of response time and delivery of test results, with the service being provided by competent and experienced technicians, able to confidently interact with clients, able to understand client requirements and use their initiative where necessary to satisfy our clients' requirement.

Our laboratory tested all forms of materials used in construction base on BS, ASTM and AASHTO standard that includes:

  1. Concrete, aggregate and bitumen testing
  2. Field and laboratory soil testing
  3. Steel bar testing

All test results are reviewed and approved by our Test Engineer and endorsed by Professional Engineer. All results are traceable to the technician who performs the analysis and equipment used. Calibration records of all testing equipment are maintained and TRACEABLE to the National Institute of Standards.

Our Laboratory is accredited by Department of Standard Malaysia (DSM) under the Skim Akreditasi Makmal Malaysia (SAMM).

INSTRUMENTATION & MONITORING

Instrumentation in civil and geotechnical works is rapidly becoming a common practice. As society meets greater challenges, taller buildings and deeper basements in congested areas, the need to validate design, and to ensure safety both during and after construction necessitates the collection of real time data. Various types of data can now be readily obtained using specialized geotechnical and structural instrumentation. By conducting on site tests and monitoring we can suggest alterations in construction equipment and procedures, evaluate the need for drainage, undercutting, stabilization or geosynthetics for solution of problem surface soils. The services provided by this Section include.

  1. Vibrating wire piezometer
  2. Pneumatic piezometer
  3. Standpipe piezometer
  4. Inclinometer
  5. Magnetic extensiometer
  6. Settlement plate
  7. Tilt Meter

SOIL INVESTIGATION

When you needs subsurface exploration and sampling, Geolab Soil Investigation Section offers highly trained, experienced staff to ensure the job get done to meet your requirements. Geolab drill crews normally consist of skilled technician assisted by junior technicians trained to classify soils and bedrock and to perform various in-situ soil or bedrock tests. All job undertakan are consistently monitored by the Section's Geologist.

All material classification conducted at site are verified by collaboration with Geology Laboratory in performing laboratory test on the samples. Factual report are generated by our Geologist and the computer generated logs are created by using a Geosystem software to ensure easy interpretation by our clients.

Our section stresses on safety while performing our services. All personnel assigned to drill crews and subsurface sampling duties had attended Training Meeting by CIDB and are holders of the Green Crad.

List of our services:

  1. Soil boring, including angle drilling
    a.   Split-spoon sampling
    b.   Auger sampling
    c.   Thin-walled tube sampling, including piston sampler

STRUCTURE & FOUNDATION

In order to meet the construction industry's demand for an accurate and cost effective method to assess the quality of foundation, Structure and Foundation Section provides foundation testing services for all kind of constructions using state-of the-art, hight-tech techniques. The servicrs provided by Structure and Foundation Section include:

  1. STATNAMIC LOAD TESTING can be used on any pile type with minimum pile preparation. Loading is perfectly axial and the relatively solw application and release of compressive forces eliminates tensile stresses, compressing the pile and the soil as a single unit. As a result, static load-displacement behaviour can be obtained.
  2. DYNAMIC LOAD TEST / PILE DRIVING ANALYSIS (DLT/PDA) provides the strains and accelerations present within a pile during driving operations.Strain and acceleration data allows engineers to accurately describe the pile driving stresses, the performance of the hammer, and an estimate of pile capacity.
  3. SONIC LOGGING TEST is used to detect defects in concrete structures such as cast-in-situ piles, caissons, barrets and diaphragm walls, uses directional sonar techniques to provide field personnel and pile designers with the profile of a shaft after drilling but prior to concrete placement. This information allows for identification of cave-ins, cross-sectional area, plumbness, and shaft roughness.
  4. SONIC INTEGRITY TESTING is a quick and inexpensive method to check the continuity of installed piles. It may be used all type of piles including cast-in-situ piles and precast concrete piles.
  5. VIBRATION MONITORING can be used for measuring vibration data from construction activity, road or rail traffic, factory machines, and demolitions.
  6. NON DESTRUCTIVE TESTING
  7. WELDING TEST

CHEMISTRY LABORATORY

In stride with the company mission to provide multidisciplinary testing services for the industry. Chemistry Laboratory was set up in May, 1997 to provide the much needed support for chemical testing in Geotechnical and Civil Engineering.

The laboratory perform basic chemical testing needed by construction industry that includes soil, water and aggregate samples. The detailed chemical composition of soil, water and aggregate samples maybe of little interest for civil engineering purpose but the presence of certain constituents can be very significant.

List of our services are:

  1. Acidity or alkalinity
  2. Sulphate content
  3. Organic content
  4. Organic impurities
  5. Carbonate content
  6. Chloride content
  7. Total dissolved solids
  8. Dissolved oxygen
  9. Biological oxygen demand
  10. Chemical oxygen demand
  11. Oil and grease
  12. Ammoniacal nitrogen
  13. Total chlorine
  14. Total suspended solids
  15. Noise Level Monitoring
